Who they were
At Valencia in Spain, Blessed Maria del Refugio Rosat Balasch, in the world Teresa, virgin of the Congregation of Christian Doctrine and martyr, was thrown into prison during the persecution and finally killed for remaining faithful to Christ her Bridegroom.
The Acta Apostolicae Sedis record that she was born at Mislata in the archdiocese of Valencia in October 1873, entered the Congregation of Christian Doctrine in 1896 and was superior of several of its houses; she was arrested in September 1936 and killed in the night between the 26th and the 27th of that month, and was beatified at Rome on 1 October 1995 by John Paul II with Angela de San Jose Lloret Marti and sixteen companions.
