Maria Gedda, born at Modane in Savoy and sister of the Catholic Action leader Luigi Gedda, was a laywoman of the Società Operaia and founded the Getsemani houses at Casale Corte Cerro, Paestum, Vitinia and Jerusalem.

Why that counted as sanctity
After her death the Società Operaia petitioned the Vicariate of Rome to open her cause; the nihil obstat is dated 11 December 1991 and the cause is heard by the tribunal of the Vicariate.
