Medarda Piñero, born at Caricuena near La Grita in Táchira, spent her life from girlhood serving the sick and the destitute at Seboruco and later at Barquisimeto, and married José Piñero in 1915.

The competent forum was transferred to San Cristóbal de Venezuela in 2002, the year in which, as Venezuelan Catholic media record, she was given the title Servant of God, the first from Táchira.
