Why that counted as sanctity
Güell founded the Congregation of the Missionary Daughters of the Heart of Mary at the hospital of Cervera in Lleida on 14 September 1899; the congregation, which now works in Europe and South America, calls her Venerable Mother Maria Güell. Her process opened on 22 May 1952 and the decree on her heroic virtues was promulgated on 6 April 1998.
