Who they were
Maria Vittorina Morelli was born at Dunarobba, in the Diocese of Todi, Italy, on 6 January 1704. At thirteen and a half she entered the Poor Clare monastery of Santa Chiara at Montecastrilli, received the habit in 1719 with the name Maria Lanceata, and made her perpetual vows in 1720.
She served the community as infirmarian and apothecary and had mystical experiences, including a wound in her side received on 10 August 1721. She died at the monastery on 26 August 1762; when her body was exhumed in 1764 it was found incorrupt. Her sisters of the Poor Clare federation call her Servant of God, with her cause still open.
