Who they were
Santina Cimatti was born at Faenza on 6 June 1861, daughter of a farm labourer and a weaver, and had little schooling, needed at home and at the loom. Her two surviving brothers became Salesians.
As Sister Maria Raffaella of the Hospitaller Sisters of Mercy she lived a humble, hidden life, caring warmly and constantly for the sick and the poor.
