Who they were
María Romero Meneses was born at Granada, Nicaragua, on 13 January 1902 into a wealthy family generous to the poor, and showed real talent for music and painting. At twelve, at the Salesian Sisters' school, she came to know Don Bosco, who seemed to embody her ideals.
A Daughter of Mary Help of Christians, in Costa Rica she worked with kindness for the education of young women, especially the poor and abandoned, and spread devotion to the Eucharist and Our Lady.
