Who they were
Anna Maria Tauscher van den Bosch was born at Sandow, Brandenburg, on 19 June 1855, daughter of a Lutheran pastor; her Lutheran mother loved the Mother of God and visited the poor and sick with her daughter. Her mother died in 1874.
Later a Catholic, left without home or work, after long wandering she found her way in Berlin caring for abandoned street children. For them she founded the Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus, who soon served the elderly, the poor, migrants and homeless workers too.
