Who they were

Maria Scrilli was born at Montevarchi, Arezzo, on 15 May 1825, the second daughter of an influential family that had hoped for a son; her mother's disappointment and coldness marked her deeply.

As Mother Maria Teresa of Jesus, a Carmelite, she founded the Sisters of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

The miracles

Benedict XVI recognised the miracle for her beatification on 19 December 2005; the biography does not describe it.
