Who they were
At Lambaesis in Numidia, in present-day Algeria, the holy martyrs Marian, a lector, and James, a deacon: the first had long since come through unharmed the harassment of the persecution of Decius for confessing the faith in Christ; arrested again together with his most beloved companion, both of them, after cruel torments and strengthened by divine grace, died with many others, run through by the sword.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 6 May as a lector who, having already survived the persecution of Decius, was arrested again and beheaded with many others at Lambaesis in Numidia.
