Who they were

Contemplative Augustinian Recollect, born at Alba de Tormes in Salamanca in 1568 and died in Madrid in 1638, one of the principal figures of the women's Recollect reform and founder of the Augustinian Recollect nuns.

The miracles

No miracle has been approved. The decree on heroic virtues has been promulgated; a miracle would come next.

Why that counted as sanctity

Pope Francis recognised her heroic virtues and declared her Venerable on 19 December 2017, after the theologians' commission approved them on 14 February and the cardinals and bishops on 21 November of that year. The Hagiography Circle dates the decree to 18 December 2017; the Augustinian Recollects give 19 December 2017.

The cause

The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. If you know the postulation’s own page, tell us and it will be added here.
