Who they were
Anne-Eugénie Milleret was born at Metz in 1817 to a wealthy family; her father, a Voltairean liberal banker, cared more for politics than his family, while her mother formed in her a strong character and sense of duty.
As Mother Marie-Eugénie of Jesus she founded the Religious of the Assumption for the Christian education of girls, opening a new spiritual path in the Church of France.
