Who they were
At Valenciennes in France, Blessed Marie-Clotilde Angèle de Saint-François-Borgia (Clotilde-Josèphe) Paillot and five companions, virgins and martyrs, who, consecrated to God and condemned to death out of hatred for the faith during the French Revolution, went devoutly up to the scaffold under the admiring gaze of the people.
Among those named is Blessed Marie-Scholastique Joséphine de Saint-Jacques (Marie-Marguerite-Josèphe) Leroux, of the Order of Saint Ursula.

As a martyr she was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers her on 23 October among the virgins of Valenciennes condemned to death out of hatred for the faith during the French Revolution.
