Lithuanian foundress of the Sisters of Divine Providence and Righteous Among the Nations
Who they were
Trained as a doctor and pharmacist, she joined the St Vincent de Paul society at Panevėžys in 1927 and wrote the rule of what became the Congregation of the Sisters of Divine Providence, approved by Bishop Kazimieras Paltarokas in 1930; the sisters ran hostels, orphanages and homes for the elderly, and during the occupations she sheltered Jews, saving fifteen people, for which she was later named Righteous Among the Nations.

Why that counted as sanctity
She was recognised as a Servant of God in 2011 and the congregation in Lithuania then began her beatification cause, which is run by the diocese of Panevėžys.
