Who they were
Marko Križevčanin was born at Križevci, Croatia, in 1588 of a noble family, studied with the Jesuits in Vienna and Graz and at the Gregorian University in Rome, and was ordained in Rome. He was a canon of Esztergom.
One of the three martyrs of Košice, he was killed in 1619 at 31: neither hunger nor the torture of the rack and fire could make him deny the Catholic faith.
