Who they were
María de la Concepción de Oleza y Gual de Torrella was born on 25 April 1905, the eldest of nine children of Lieutenant Colonel Jaime de Oleza y de España and María de la Concepción Gual de Torrella. On 24 October 1928, aged twenty-three, she entered the Discalced Carmelite monastery of Palma, taking the name María Concepción of Saint James and Saint Teresa.
She made her first vows on 26 April 1930 and served her community as prioress for twenty-one years in all and as novice mistress. She died on 7 February 1999, aged almost ninety-four, after seventy years of religious life. Her sisters promote her cause and call her Servant of God, with a prayer for her intercession approved by the Church.
