Mary Frances Schervier

Who they were
Franziska Schervier was born in Aachen on 3 January 1819, a goddaughter of Emperor Francis II. Her mother died when she was thirteen, and as a young woman she began helping the poor and teaching them the catechism.
For many years she cared for the poor, the sick and the afflicted of Aachen, and founded the Poor Sisters of St Francis to meet the needs of the needy. She died in Aachen on 14 December 1876.
