Who they were
Mateo Casals Mas, born at Bagá, near Barcelona, on 10 September 1883, made his religious profession in the Congregation of the Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (the Claretians) on 15 August 1903 and was ordained a priest on 13 June 1911.
He was shot at San Quirce de la Serra, near Barcelona, on 5 September 1936, and Pope Francis beatified him with his companions on 21 October 2017.
