Who they were
Mateo de Prado Fernández was born at La Mata de Monteagudo on 25 July 1906 and made his first temporary vows in 1935. He stood out for his charity towards the poor and was killed in 1936; Pope Francis beatified him on 18 June 2022.
The miracles
As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
He was put to death in 1936 in the persecution in Spain, and the Church recognised his death as martyrdom.
