Kavukattu led the Syro-Malabar archeparchy of Changanacherry from 1950 until his death in 1969; the archeparchy lists him among its former bishops as Servant of God Mar Mathew Kavukattu. The Holy See's nihil obstat for his cause is dated 21 October 1996.
