Maurice Grandet

Who they were

Maurice Grandet was a layman born at Le Havre on 3 April 1920 and baptised on 22 August in the church of Sainte-Cécile; he joined the Young Christian Workers in 1938 and led his parish group. Engaged by the Organisation Todt at the end of 1942, he left for Cologne with the compulsory labour service on 20 July 1943 and died at Buchenwald on 12 October 1944, aged 24. He was beatified on 13 December 2025 by Pope Leo XIV.
