Maurice Tornay

Who they were
Maurice Tornay was born at La Rosière, Orsières, in the Valais, Switzerland, on 31 August 1910 to hard-working farmers of modest means and solid faith, and walked an hour each week down the mule tracks to confession and Communion.
A Canon Regular of the Great St Bernard, in 1936 he was allowed to go to China as a missionary before finishing his theology. He proclaimed the Gospel in China and Tibet and was killed by the enemies of Christ in 1949.
