Who they were
At Angers in Gallia Lugdunensis, in present-day France, Saint Maurilius, bishop, who, born in Milan, went to Saint Martin of Tours, by whom he was ordained priest and placed at the head of the church of Chalonnes-sur-Loire; having later become bishop, he worked to overcome pagan superstitions in the countryside.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 13 September as a bishop of Angers, ordained priest by Saint Martin of Tours, who fought pagan superstition in the countryside.
