Who they were
At Naples, Saint Maximus, bishop, who for his fidelity to the Council of Nicaea was sent into exile by the emperor Constantius, where, worn down by tribulations, he died a confessor of the faith.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 11 June as a bishop of Naples exiled for his fidelity to the Council of Nicaea who died a confessor of the faith.
