Who they were
Maximus, probably born in the Rhaetian Alps about 380, witnessed the martyrdom of three missionaries there in 397. He was the first known Bishop of Turin.
He attended the synod of Milan in 451 and that of Rome in 465 as the oldest bishop present. His many sermons on the Church's year and the saints survive. He died soon after 465 and is patron of Turin.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
