Memnon of Bizye

Who they were

At Bizye in Thrace, now in Turkey, Saint Memnon, martyr, who, a centurion brought to the faith by Saint Severus, was subjected together with him to fearful tortures in the time of Diocletian and Maximian, and was the first of the two to enter heaven as a victor.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 3 July as the centurion brought to the faith by Saint Severus who was tortured with him under Diocletian and Maximian.
