Who they were
Marie-Louise-Élisabeth de Lamoignon was born in Paris on 3 October 1763 and married Count Édouard-François Molé de Champlâtreux. Amid the honours of high society she grew in prayer and in commitment to the poor.
Her husband was guillotined in the Revolution. Renewing her covenant with the Cross of Christ, she founded the Sisters of Charity of St Louis and became their superior general. She died on 4 March 1825, aged 61.
The miracles
She was beatified at Vannes. The Dicastery's biography does not describe the miracles approved in the cause.
Why that counted as sanctity
A countess widowed by the guillotine who turned her grief into a congregation of charity.
