Who they were
At Synnada in Phrygia, today in Turkey, Saint Michael, bishop, who, a man of peace, fostered concord between Greeks and Latins; then sent into exile for the veneration of sacred images, he died far from his homeland.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 23 May as a bishop of Synnada who fostered concord between Greeks and Latins and died in exile for defending sacred images.
