Why that counted as sanctity
First rector of the Bratislava seminary and a bishop from 1938, he was tried and imprisoned by the Czechoslovak communist regime and died under guard at Tábor in Bohemia; his is a cause of martyrdom. The nihil obstat came on 19 November 2001 and the inquiry opened on 24 February 2002 after the competent forum was moved from České Budějovice to Bratislava-Trnava.
