Who they were
Michel Coquelet was a priest of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate serving in Laos. With his confrere Father Louis Leroy he refused to leave his mission stations in the mountains of Xieng Khouang, going on praying, teaching the faith and caring for the sick.
He was killed in hatred of the faith on 20 April 1961, at the age of thirty, and is one of the martyrs of Laos beatified in 2016.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
A young Oblate missionary who would not abandon the poor of the Laotian mountains and died for the faith.
