Michele Kusuriya is named among the 188 martyrs of Japan beatified on 24 November 2008 by Benedict XVI. The Dicastery's list records him as a pharmacist and provisor of the Confraternity of Mercy, burned alive on 28 July 1633, going to his martyrdom singing “Laudate Dominum”.
