Who they were
In the prison camp of Działdowo in Poland, Blessed Maria Teresa (Mieczysława) Kowalska, virgin of the Capuchin Poor Clares and martyr, who, during the wartime occupation of Poland, was imprisoned because of her faith and died sustained by faith in Christ.

As a martyr she was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers her on 25 July as a Capuchin Poor Clare imprisoned for her faith who died in the Działdowo camp.
