Miguel Amaro Ramírez

Who they were

Miguel Amaro Ramírez was born on 8 May 1883 at El Romeral, in the province and archdiocese of Toledo; he was ordained priest on 9 June 1906 and entered the Sodality of Diocesan Worker Priests of the Heart of Jesus on 12 August of the same year, teaching seminarians at Toledo and Leon and at the college for fostering vocations at Cuenca and Valencia. He died a martyr at Toledo on 2 August 1936, and was beatified on 13 October 2013 by Pope Francis.

The decree says these fifteen priests gave such an example of priestly virtue that martyrdom was the crown of a priestly life resting on apostolic ministry.
