Who they were
Modest de Mieres was born at Mieres in the province of Girona on 8 June 1876, made his solemn profession on 28 June 1902 and was ordained priest on 20 July 1902. He was arrested and killed on 28 July 1936, after proudly declaring that he was a priest.
He was beatified on 21 November 2015 by Pope Francis, among the twenty-six Capuchin martyrs of Barcelona.
