Augustinian Recollect lay nun of the monastery of Santa María Magdalena at Baeza
Who they were
The third of ten children of a farming family at Monteagudo in Navarre, she entered the Augustinian Recollects at Baeza in 1908 and asked out of humility to be a simple lay sister; she sheltered with other nuns in private houses when the convent was seized in 1936 and returned to Baeza for good in 1939, and was known locally as the saint of Baeza, leaving more than five thousand letters.

Why that counted as sanctity
Her cause was promoted by the monastery of Santa María Magdalena: the nihil obstat came on 24 February 1979, the cognitional process ran from 8 December 1979 to 8 November 1981, and John Paul II declared her Venerable on 13 June 1992.
