Who they were
Louis-Joseph Wiaux was born and baptised at Mellet, Belgium, on 20 March 1841, son of the village blacksmith, and after school worked in his father's forge until God called him to consecrated life.
As Brother Mutien-Marie of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, young and inexperienced, he at first risked being sent away as unfit for teaching. He resolved to do God's will in everything with the greatest perfection, and gave almost his whole life with constancy and care to educating the young.

A blacksmith's son, nearly sent away as unfit, who became a saint by doing God's will perfectly in small things.
