Who they were
Narcisa de Jesús Martillo Morán was born in 1832 at San José de Nobol, Daule, Ecuador, to simple, devout landowners. Her mother died when she was six and her father in 1852.
Orphaned and without means, after many difficulties she found shelter in a convent, where as a laywoman she lived in continual prayer and harsh penance. At the end of her last day she said goodbye to the sisters, saying she was going on a very long journey.
