Natalio Camazón Junquera

Who they were

Natalio Camazón Junquera was born at Castromocho on 1 December 1873, entered the friary of Corias in Asturias, made perpetual vows and was a priest from 1897. He was bursar of his friary and ran a magazine devoted to the Holy Rosary when he was killed in 1936; Pope Francis beatified him on 18 June 2022.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

He was put to death in 1936 in the persecution in Spain, and the Church recognised his death as martyrdom.
