Who they were
Niccolò Albergati of Bologna became a Carthusian in 1394 and was made Bishop of Bologna against his will in 1417, still following his order's rule and working to reform the clergy.
A cardinal from 1426, he served the popes on many missions and in the preparations for reunion with the Greeks. He died at Siena on 9 May 1443.
The miracles
Though never formally canonised, he has long been popularly venerated as Blessed.
