Who they were
In the village of Tomhom near Bangkok in Thailand, Blessed Nicholas Bunkerd Kitbamrung, priest and martyr, who, a distinguished preacher of the Gospel, was thrown into prison at the time of the persecution against the Church and, while helping the sick, himself struck by tuberculosis, died gloriously.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 12 January as a Thai priest and martyr who died of tuberculosis in prison while caring for the sick.
