Óengus of Tallaght
Irish bishop, reformer and writer

Who they were
Aengus, educated at Clonenagh, lived as a hermit of great austerity and was called the 'Culdee', the servant of God. Fleeing the visitors his fame attracted, he entered the monastery of Tallaght as a lay brother, hiding who he was.
St Maelruain discovered him and they wrote the Martyrology of Tallaght together. About 805 he finished his Félire, the poetical festology of the saints.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
A hermit who sang the praises of the saints.
