Pacificus of Ceredano

Who they were
Pacificus was born in 1420 at Cerano in the Diocese of Novara and entered the Franciscan Observants at Novara in 1445. After ordination he became a preacher and took part in preaching the crusade against the Turks. He is best known as the author of the Summa Pacifica, a guide to hearing confessions first printed at Milan in 1479.
In 1481 his order sent him to Sardinia to visit its friaries, and he died there on 4 June 1482. His body was brought back to Cerano, he was honoured as a saint at once, and in 1745 Benedict XIV approved his veneration for the Franciscans and the Diocese of Novara.
