Who they were
Pantaenus, trained in Stoic philosophy, became head of the catechetical school of Alexandria about 180 and was the teacher of Clement of Alexandria.
It is said that he went as a missionary to 'India' and found Christians there with St Matthew's Gospel in Hebrew. He died about 200.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
