Who they were
Pascal Vergez was a diocesan priest of Tarbes, born at Aucun on 17 March 1910 and baptised on 3 April; he entered the minor seminary of Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre and then the major seminary, and after his military service was ordained on 2 July 1935. Mobilised in 1939, he was captured and taken to Halle and Schkopau, and having refused to become a civilian worker he was still able to exercise his ministry until his arrest on 10 September 1944; he died at Zöschen on 12 December 1944, aged 34. He was beatified on 13 December 2025 by Pope Leo XIV.
