Who they were

At Scissy in the territory of Coutances in France, burial of Saint Paternus, bishop of Avranches, who founded many monasteries and, elected to the episcopal dignity when already in his seventies, most pleasing to God, gave up his spirit in a monastery.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 15 April as a bishop of Avranches who founded many monasteries and became bishop in his seventies.
