Who they were
Paul Favre-Miville was born at Vinzier, Haute-Savoie, on 17 April 1939. In 1984 he entered the Trappist abbey of Tamié, and in 1989 he went to the monastery of Tibhirine in Algeria, where he made his solemn profession in 1991.
With six of his brothers he was kidnapped on the night of 26 March 1996; their remains were found about two months later. The monks had chosen together to stay in Algeria despite the terror. They are among the 19 martyrs of Algeria.
