Who they were
In a squalid galley anchored off Rochefort in France, Blessed Paul-Jean Charles, priest and martyr, who, a Cistercian prior, in the course of the French Revolution was torn by the persecutors from the monastery of Septfontaines because of his priesthood and handed over to naval arrest, and died consumed by starvation and disease.

Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 25 August as a Cistercian prior who died in a prison galley off Rochefort.
