Who they were
Paul Le Ber, called Brother Roger in religion, was born at Landivisiau on 1 April 1920 and baptised there four days later; after the Franciscan minor seminary he entered the novitiate in 1939 and made simple profession on 17 December 1940. Sent to Cologne under the compulsory labour service on 17 September 1943, he was arrested there on 13 July 1944 and died on 12 April 1945, aged 25, during the death marches that emptied Buchenwald. He was beatified on 13 December 2025 by Pope Leo XIV.
