Who they were
At Caesarea in Palestine, Saints Valentina, Thea and Paul, martyrs in the persecution of the emperor Maximian, under the governor Firmilian. The virgin Valentina, who had kicked over an altar dedicated to the pagan idols, after various cruel tortures ran to meet the Bridegroom, thrown into the fire together with the virgin Thea; Paul, for his part, condemned to death, after obtaining a short time for prayer and imploring God with his whole heart for the salvation of all, received the crown of martyrdom by beheading.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 25 July as a martyr at Caesarea in Palestine who, condemned to death, was given a short time to pray and begged God for the salvation of all before he was beheaded.
