Who they were
Pedro de Zúñiga was a priest of the Order of Hermits of Saint Augustine. With the Dominican Blessed Luis Flores and thirteen Japanese sailors he was arrested as soon as they landed at Nagasaki, and after various torments they were all martyred together. The Holy See names him among the leaders of the 205 martyrs of Japan.
He is one of the 205 martyrs killed in Japan for the Catholic faith between 1617 and 1632 whom Pius IX declared Blessed on 7 July 1867.
